PVC privacy fences are currently not allowed under the original Articles of Incorporation. An amendment must be approved in order to permit them; otherwise, building PVC fences may be considered a violation subject to fines or even requiring removal. A recent property manager has advised some neighbors that actions on this matter may be forthcoming.
Passing this amendment requires 75% homeowner approval, a total of 207 votes, one per unit. The fencing issue is only one example of the broader governance problems we face, and with such a high voting threshold we are left with a dysfunctional path to updating our bylaws. This limits homeowners’ ability to realistically participate and bring value to the property within established rules.
Lowering the threshold to 51% or less is essential to update our outdated bylaws. Reaching every homeowner and securing their pledge to vote — in person or by proxy — is only possible if many of us get involved. It takes very little to participate in something that directly shapes your future as an owner or resident. The moment to step up is now. Are you ready?
